Running Wrecked Running Wrecked
A Phil Riley Novel

Now available wherever fine books are sold.

You ever kill anyone?

I did. And she thanked me for it. Crazy huh? Yeah, well, maybe I am crazy....

But let me tell you; something like happens to you and it isn't easy to shake. You can move to the deep southern Caribbean to some no name little island, buy a Scuba dive shop, and try to forget.

But you won't. You can't.

Because killing someone changes you. And that change is as complete as if you changed your skin and your hair and heart and your soul. Trust me, you aren't the same person you used to be—whatever that was.

So I find this abandoned sailboat off the coast of my new island home and I try to do the right thing and bring it in. Find out what's going on right? Help a fellow seafarer out.

What a mistake.

The shit goes stale pretty quick. People start getting hurt that shouldn't. Hell, the cops on the island don't care. Everyone telling me to let it go—or threatening my life if I don't. So I've got no one to turn to—no one to trust but this "new me." So I should let it go right? What's this sailboat and her owner to me?

I could. I would. If I could just find a way to erase my memory.

Crazy huh?

Yeah, crazy...

PRAISE FOR RUNNING WRECKED

"In Running Wrecked, Mark Combes introduces Phil Riley, a former Ford assembly plant employee, haunted by a deadly past and hiding out in the Caribbean, where he buys a dive shop... and becomes submerged in an investigation when a local family disappears. This debut is a must for fans of Randy Wayne White and Bob Morris."
—Mystery Scene Magazine (Very Original Paperback Originals)

"Running Wrecked will have Caribbean lovers running to the bookstore. Author Mark Combes clearly knows the lay of the land, and the sea. And Phil Riley, the hero of this kinetic, seaworthy tale, is a nautical knight in the tradition of Travis McGee."
—Bob Morris, author of the Edgar Award nominated Bahamarama

"Mark has written a lyrical, thoughtful mystery with plenty of gritty action. His character, Phil, is damaged by his past and controlled by his compulsions, yet evinces a striking nobility. This book is a beautifully written page-turner featuring a character you're going to want to know better even as you hope he can come to truly know himself. I loved this book, and can't wait to see more from Mark."
—Bill Cameron, author of Lost Dog
